As in I admit, I have a sweet tooth. Not a really bad one, but it’s there nonetheless. My main vice is cookies, which I usually try to limit to 2 or 3 with a glass of milk just before bed. But when I’m feeling particularly bold, or just accidentally hesitate for a minute too long in the freezer section of my local grocery, a pint or two of my favorite Haagen-Dazs ice cream will miraculously appear in my shopping cart. The problem with this is not only the fact that, unlike my cookie fix, I can’t stop at just two or three bites of Cookies and Cream or Chocolate Peanut Butter, but also that Haagen Dazs is expensive!! $3.50 or more a pint and a pint doesn’t go very far in my house.
However, I may have just found a way to pay for this expensive habit, and low and behold I wouldn't have to leave my desk or change my occupation to do it. All I need to do is sell some "spoilage" coverage to the latest wave of criminals sweeping the nation (at least NYC anyway); yep, you guessed it, ice cream thieves! Apparently a bunch of budding entrepreneurs see a tasty opportunity to make a quick buck by stealing high end ice cream from pharmacies (apparently overlooking all the drugs and other stuff on their way to the ice cream...I didn't say they were smart!) and other retail outlets, and then going around and selling them at a discount to bodegas (I had to look up what that was) and other less, shall we say, honorable retail stores at an attractive discount. Therein lies the opportunity for me. Spoilage coverage for the transit and warehousing exposure inherent in this business! BAM! My only fear is if they offer to barter some spoilage coverage for Cookies and Cream.... C'Mon Man!
